High-end French Cuisine is often associated with snobby waitstaff. I am happy to report that this is not the case at Three Michelin Star Caprice. Infact, service was the star of the day. The servers were genuinely nice, helpful and efficient.
I booked Caprice for Hubby’s birthday about a month in advance in order to secure a window seat. Caprice books up pretty quickly, so if you want to try it during your Hong Kong trip, definitely plan ahead. Hubby and I were there for lunch on a Saturday and it was a full house.
After our orders were taken, the bread was quickly brought out. It was warm and delicious. My favorite was the wheat. The servers were also very good about replinishing the yummy bread. We were asked at least three times if we wanted to sample more bread. I also loved my charger plate pictured above. I am a sucker for fine china. I do not own any nor would I want to as I am a big klutz. If I accidentally broke a plate at Caprice, I wonder if they would charge me for it? =P
Eggplant fondant, mushrooms, escargot, and poultry stuffing. Great presentation and delicious to boot. Loved the plate.
Raw scallops in Yuzu dressing. Nothing mindblowing but definitely edible. I do not enjoy raw scallops and I mananged to finish this generous serving. If one loves raw scallops, I do not forsee any problems.
Whiting Fillet. Crispy, tender, spot-on flavoring, very enjoyable. Generous serving size as well.
Braised wagyu beef shoulder with leeks and potato crisps in a red wine sauce was yummy. Hubby did not care for that particular cut of beef, but I enjoyed it very much.
We did not opt for a dessert course which was a good idea as we were both full from the appetizers and entrees. Two coffees and some petit fours rounded off our meal nicely. I was too stuffed to even eat my share of petit fours. I was also tipsy from one glass of wine. =)
Overall Caprice is very enjoyable. I would certainly bring my guests there if they were in the mood for French cuisine in Hong Kong. Prices are reasonable for 3 Michelin star dining. Our meal was under $200USD for two people for lunch which is a lot cheaper than Per Se’s $300+ per person. Food is not as good as Per Se but the service was better than Per Se’s.
Additional Note: Caprice has a very impressive entrance. Their brightly lit yellow floors made you feel that you were walking on a runway!

Lovely food pictures!
The food was very pretty. It was hard to take a bad photo.
I am going to Caprice soon the first time, pretty excited about it
AND I have to book 2 months in advance to secure a window seat of 3! how crazy! After the first try with window seat, I might just sit anywhere lol
Caprice is great. I know you will enjoy it. =)
