When I first moved to Hong Kong, I had no idea that there would be a place to play my beloved Euro Boardgames. It was not until I attended a meetup for fellow Boardgamers that I discovered Jolly Thinkers.

Does this not remind you of a pre-school or kindergarten? Despite the decorating style, it is a very cozy spot to indulge in your favorite Euro games or Monopoly if you will.

A wall of boardgames for you to play free of charge while you are in the cafe. There is another wall full of new games for purchasing. The prices are about 30% higher than in the USA. For example…Settlers of Catan sell for about $350HKD($40USD).

Pricing of the cafe and the way the system works. It is basically $55HKD($7USD) for the first two hours including one $30HKD($4USD) drink. And $5HKD(.70centsUSD) for every 30 minutes afterwards. The drinks there were pretty tasty and finger food is served as well.

Overall: It is a nice smoke-free environment to play boardgames. It can get loud depending on what games the others are playing. Since space is a huge premium in Hong Kong, pretty much everyone gathers outside for social events.

Things to Note: (1) Make a reservation if you go as it gets really busy. (2) It is great for rainy days for tourists with nothing to do in Hong Kong.
